Aurora Award 2004 Grand Aurora Award Winner, Live Design Concept Award
The Second Annual Concept Awards "Live Challenge" took place on the trade show floor during the 2004 SEBC. Derived from a fictitious client and building site, designers, architects and builders developed site plans, floor plans and exterior elevations on the SEBC trade show floor.
Winners were judged on the best use of Whirlpool’s "Family Studio" and "Gladiator Garage Works," the artistic incorporation of Andersen "Impact Resistant Glass" windows, as well as how they handled the 12-hour competition.
The Southeast Building Conference is inviting the region’s top home designers to participate in the fourth annual "Concept Awards" live design competition hosted by the American Institute of Building Design. The contest is open to designers, architects and builders willing to take on the task of creatively providing solutions presented by a "design program" derived from a fictitious client and building site. In addition, each home will be judged on the best use of Whirlpool’s "Family Studio" and "Gladiator Garage Works" and the artistic incorporation of Andersen "Impact Resistant Glass" windows.
The competition will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando during SEBC show hours on August 3-5. The competition runs over two days and the winners will be announced at the Aurora Awards dinner on the evening of August 5. |

The Concept Award competition at the 2005 SEBC in Orlando was another success. Located in the “Hurricane Alley” portion of the exhibit hall, the five contestants worked hard on a Craftsman style solution to a fictitious client design problem. Saturday morning the entries were judged at the Rosen Centre Hotel while copies were on exhibit at the competition area in the Orange County Convention Center. The judge’s selections were announced at the Aurora Awards gala banquet also held at the Rosen Centre Hotel ballroom on Saturday night. The Honor award of Merit went to Bobby Morales, CPBD of Morales-Keesee Design Associates, Apopka FL, the Honor Award went to Allen Beaumont, CPBD of Beaumont & Associates, Altamonte Springs FL.
